Pavarotti with Music Nib

Luciano Pavarotti (12 October 1935 – 6 September 2007) was an Italian operatic tenor who also crossed over into popular music, eventually becoming one of the most commercially successful tenors of all time. He made numerous recordings of complete operas and individual arias, gaining worldwide fame for the quality of his tone, and eventually established himself as one of the finest tenors of the 20th century. Armando Simoni Club has dedicated their recent fountain pen with music nib to Pavarotti.

Fountain pens typically have two tines (one slit). A music nib usually (but not always) has three tines. Because of the three-tine design, these nibs used to be referred to as “trident nibs.” When doing normal writing a music nib will general resemble a smooth, wet stub nib with significant amounts of line variation though modern music nibs are not flexible. While the music nib design usually leads to a soft feeling nib, they next not to be springy in the way that you would expect from a flex nib.
